NOMAN Barcelona to Ibiza
- July 13, 2015
The 2015 NOMAN race will follow the outstanding success of the inaugural event in 2013 which raised over $1 million and attained press coverage on a national scale.
The first race sets off from Barcelona on the 17th of July with the return leg starting in Ibiza on the 21st of July.
The NOMAN Barcelona to Ibiza race runs every two years. The contest will see two identical boats of amateurs race head to head across 200 miles of the Mediterranean Sea from the mainland to the Balearic Island. Competitors can also take the opportunity to participate in a race using the same boats and equipment on the return journey.
This is the world's premier ocean rowing race with all the training tailored to individual availabilities and conducted by expert ocean rowers. The boats, equipment and clothing supplied are all top of the line allowing the teams to focus on the race.
There are two aims. To win the race and to raise funds for the HPV and Anal Cancer foundation.
Rowing across an ocean or sea is like no other sport. Ocean rowing is as much about the crews’ ability to cope mentally, as it is about technique and physical strength. The endurance required will result in a life-changing achievement. Neither crew in 2013 had prior ocean rowing experience and they managed very well!
Both boats will have one of our tracking devices on board. It will send the latest position of each crew to the race website every hour or so but can also be activated remotely to provide more regular position updates ensuring that your crew can be found quickly if the need arises.
