Transgascogne 2015

In 2015, the port of Bourgenay is organizing the 15th edition of the Transgascogne 6.50.
This race is open to yacht prototypes and series, double and solo. There are four divisions; proto solo, solo series, double proto and double series. This allows competitors from all backgrounds a chance to compete on a level playing field. It also provides the participants going onto the Mini Transat race a chance to test the latest changes to their boats.
The fleet of the 15th edition of the Transgascogne 6.50 will cast their moorings off Port Bourgenay on July 26. A new port of Luanco has been found to meet all the race organisers expectations. As for the Town of Luanco, the resort offers all the necessary services for the fleets shore stopover.
From Port Bourgenay, the yachts will set off towards Belle Ile and down to the Spanish coast: a journey crossing the Bay of Biscay to the port of Luanco. After a stopover of a few days in this port, the second stage will see the fleet return directly to Port Bourgenay.
In total, the technical course is 590 miles, which allows everyone to adapt to the specific rhythms of racing and to better understand the constraints of life at sea aboard a Mini.
Each yacht will have a YB Tracker installed aboard prior to the race start. The tracker will collect and transmit data via the Iridium satellite network. Once it is recieved by YB HQ servers, which is at most a second or two, it is compiled onto our live map. This means all loved ones left on ashore, whether family or friends, can follow the fleet, or just an individual yacht's progress with a click of a mouse.
