RORC Transatlantic 2015

Organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club and the International Maxi Association, this race attracts a varied and international fleet ranging from 40 to 100ft. They will set off on Saturday 28th November from Lanzarote bound for Grenada in the Royal Ocean Racing Club's Transatlantic Race. The monohulls will be competing for the RORC Transatlantic Race Trophy, for the best elapsed time under IRC, and any one of the fleet has a real chance of winning the race and lifting the trophy.
After a week of preparation and social events hosted at Marina Lanzarote, the second edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race will see competitors race 3000 nautical miles across the Atlantic, where they will be welcomed at Port Louis Marina. The fastest yachts could complete the race in just six days, but the majority of the fleet will be at sea for two weeks or more.
All participating yachts will have a YB tracker installed before departure. The tracker is pre-programmed to collect and send data at predetermined intervals. This data is sent almost instantaneously through the Iridium satellite network which is available from any position on Earth. Once it has arrived at YB HQ servers then it is visualised onto our race player so organisers, friends and family left on shore can follow the fleet throughout the race.
