Seventeen cyclists will be setting off on the 4th of October. Although they all have their personal reasons for taking part in this charity ride they have one thing in common - a determination to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK and a local Cancer Charity.
The ride is billed as the Superyacht Shipyard Tour and will take place over 6 days with 850kms from Ancona to Antibes for the cyclists to cover. They will be stopping off at famous superyacht shipyards along the way to drum up support. Why shipyards? Well the Cogs 4 Cancer riders come from all areas of the yachting industry so it seemed fitting to arrange the race around the common interest.
The stages consist of a 168 km journey from Ancona to Forli on day one. Day two is 149km from Forli to Empoli, through Florence. Day three is Empoli to La Spezia via Lucca and Viareggio a distance of 153km. Day four sees the riders move 150km from La Spezia to Arenzano. The penultimate day is 125km from Arenzano to San Remo. The final push for the riders see them from San Remo to the finishing point at Antibes.
Seven of the original eight riders from the 2013 event are returning to the saddle while eight new members will be taking on the challenge for the first time.
100% of the money raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK, Clinique Tzank in Mougins and the children’s cancer unit at the Lenval hospital in Nice.

Friends, family and supporters (including the pop star Rihanna!) will be able to follow the progress of the riders as our trackers will be recording and transmitting data such as speed, location and direction every hour. When the trackers transmit the data goes through the Iridium satellite network to YB Tracking HQ. Once it arrives on our servers it is visualised onto our
race player, this happens in mere milliseconds so all following the race can see the progress of the riders.
