The Muskoka River X 2016
- September 10, 2016
Three courses break apart the 80 teams competing this year, ranging from a short sprint to a 48-hour epic! Competitors will be in a range of vessels from one person canoe's and kayak's to two person kayaks as well as SUP's.
Course one is the MRX - Sprint, an 80Km dash between Huntsville and Bracebridge over two stages. Perfect for those wanting the MRX experience, or the perfect introduction to expedition paddle racing. It promises to be a fast action packed day of expedition paddling.
Course two is the slightly longer 130Km MRX - Classic. Now in its fourth year, the 24-hour race over four stages combines to be the world's longest expedition paddling race, paddling on two river systems, three lakes and 20 portages all combining to 130Km of unsupported paddle racing.
Course three, the MRX - Coureur des Bois (Runner of the Woods) is a 48 hour, 220Km expedition paddling race that begins day one with 89Km of paddling and 19 portages. The race then joins the start of the MRX - Classic and competes alongside them for the next 24 hours. The MRX - Coureur des Bois is an expansion race for the 2016 Muskoka River X event to follow the historic routes taken by early British and American explorers that led into the First Nations hunting and fishing grounds.
