Adam Pereira- Diabetes UK Double Transat

Adam is attempting to sail 7,000 nautical miles from Cowes to the Statue of Liberty and back again single handed. On his arrival back in Cowes he will be the first person with Type 1 diabetes to complete a transatlantic crossing alone.

An experienced sailor from the Isle of Wight, Adam has competed in many high level sailing events such as the Sydney Hobart, where he came first in the maxi class and becoming overall winner of the Black group.  He is a Ocean Yacht Master with over 100,000 offshore nautical miles under his belt so feels prepaired for anyhting the sea can throw at him.

He decided to challenge himself after being diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 33. He wants to inspire people living with the condition to pursue theur dreams and live life the the fullest.

He is setting off on his expected ten week trip from Cowes on the 17th June to co inside with Diabetes Week. 

Adam has a YB tracker onboard so that friends and family can follow his route across the Atlantic.
