King of the Hammers 2019

  • January 16, 2019

Each year over 400 teams converge on Means Dry Lake bed in California to participate in a series of desert races in specially modified UTVs, dirt bikes, quad bikes, side by sides and trophy trucks to gain the title of ‘King of the Hammers’.

Created on the back of a napkin in a bar by two friends, King of the Hammers was founded in 2007 and it has grown from 12 teams in a non-spectator invitational to over 400 teams and 60,000+ spectators on the ground, with a further 500,000+ watching online. Each team must complete the 165-mile course in under 14 hours, pass through 7 checkpoints and at all times stay within 100 feet of the centreline of the course.

However, while the main event is the King of the Hammers race, there are also multiple disciplines in the series. From endurance desert racing to competition-style rock crawling to short course racing. There is something for everything and one thing is certain – it’s going to be incredibly entertaining for the spectators, and equally as challenging for the competitors.

This will mark the 5th year in a row that YB Tracking has helped support the racers by providing the tracking equipment and race viewer for the event. Our race viewer compliments the live streaming of the week brilliantly, so any spectators who can’t attend can still keep up with the progress of the teams in real time, from anywhere in the world!

We wish all teams competing the best of luck. Have fun, and we’ll be there every step of the way!

Kicking off on the 1st of February through to the 9th, be sure to check out the live stream and race viewer on the website, but CLICKING HERE
